Lost Love and Unfulfilled Love
I really enjoyed the submissions I received for this edition of the relationship closure carnival. These bloggers bared their souls and write beautifully about some painful subjects. Thank you all!
Nathanael presents Oh Cupid, where art thou? “To be alone, to have no one to share life with, no one to sacrifice for, no one to love, would be, for me, an unhappy and unfulfilled existence. This is why broken relationships and lost love are so profound in my eyes. Loving (i.e., giving oneself wholly to another) is a primary (if not the main) source of meaning, and when that is lost, whenever the person one has loved and poured one’s life into walks away, everything, from the core of one’s self identity to one’s perception of life’s meaning, is at stake.”
Arlene Mei Pinpin shares a poem On Loving and Losing ~
“Long have I waited for your return, but you never came.
The sweet breeze of spring has been overshadowed
by the melancholic songs of tomorrow.
Now, all I have are words to create your likeness.
Everything else slowly vanishes from my memories.
The rain and the sunshine…
the smell of the morning dew…
and the feeling of melting in your embrace.
Set me free. Let me face my new home.
A place where I am ought to be.”
Elvis D presents Impulse. “The most common image he carried with himself was of him breaking her arm. For no real reason other than that he was hurting and he needed someone to truly understand how bad the pain felt.” [Jane: I assume this story is fiction given its location, but the theme is very real, and I liked the ending.]
Janie Siess’ “Am I too late?” Part 4 and Part 4a talks about a high school crush and how love meanders for one’s life. [Jane: Janie doesn't like to be called "Jane"; I prefer to be called "Jane" and sometimes people call me "Janey" because my middle initial is Y and they thought it was part of my first name. I don't like to be called "Janey". I recommend her post on blog carnival guidelines, based on one of her experiences with a carnival.]
Jack Yoest presents USS Bonefish Lost: A Remembrance 18 June. “My father, then only a teen-ager from Jersey, left high school, went to war and was assigned to the submarine, USS Bonefish. Just before the final mission of the Bonefish, my father walked off the gangplank – transferred to another assignment. Another man took his place…” [Jane: I was touched by this father's day tribute. I also enjoyed the photographs that Jack shared. Through the first comment on Jack's post, I came upon another "Jane" blogger this morning! I'm a lucky girl.]
Mariuca presents Love in Disarray. “You realize that once love turns into anger and hate rears its ugly head, the only way out of your insanity is to walk away and let him go. You recognize that dreams don’t always come true, no matter how badly you want them to but most of all you now understand that true love, whatever his standards, was never meant to be that hard.” [Jane: The last sentence of this piece is my favorite.]
